The Boston Street storage tank was built in 1949 and underwent significant repairs in 1978. It is a Type II concrete storage tank and the only one of it's age still in use according to the builder. The tank has exceeded it service life and a recent inspection report recommends that the Town budget for a replacement tank. The request will be done in two phases:
- Evaluation & Design - An engineer will be retained to determine the minimum amount finished water storage the Town need to meet operation use and for fire fighting. The evalution will be based on current needs as well as anticipated future needs for the next 75 years. The size and location of the new tank will be based on this evaluation. The tank will be designed and construction bids will be obtained.
- Construction - A funding request will be submitted to Town Meeting for the construction of the new tank.
