6:45 PM Update: The repair is complete and River Road is open to traffic.
2:45 PM Update: The crew spliced in a new piece of pipe and are turning the water back on. The mains on River Road and Prospect Street will be flushed to remove any air and/or contamination.
The water main on River Road near #93 broke this morning at 9:30 AM. Water service to River Road between Fox Run Road and Prospect Street was turned off by 10:15 AM and will remain off until the pipe is repaired. Crews are currently excavating the area near the broken pipe. We expect water to be back on by 5 PM.
River Road, from Prospect Street to #93, is closed to all traffic. River Road, from Fox Run Road to #93, is open for residents only.
A portion of Prospect Street, from #32 to River Road, will be turned off for a short period of time (30 minutes) while the River Road main is filled and flushed later this afternoon.
Customers throughout the system are likely to see discolored water due to the rapid flow of water when the break occurred. Delay any unnecessary clothes washing until the system has stabilized which should be sometime this afternoon. Run an outside faucet or a bathtub (cold) for 10-15 minutes and the water should clear up.
