Town of Topsfield, Base Maps

Our base maps include planinmetric, topographic and cadastral maps. The cadastral, or tax maps, are updated on an annual basis and include all of the property lines, town easements, parcel areas and other data used by the Assessor's Office. The planimeteric and topographic maps are based on aerial photos taken on April 20, 1997 and show all major features that can be viewd from the photos. These features include buildings, roads, wetlands, fire hydrants, signs, poles, fences, and driveways to name a few. These maps are not updated very often and some areas, particularly ones with new subdivisions, are quite out of date. The base maps are available through the Assessor's Office for a fee.

Town of Topsfield, Local Features

The Town has started to add additional features to our maps including the water distribution system, storm drainage system and locations of beaver dams as well as linking these map features to existing databases such as the water billing database and hydrant maintenance database. These features and data are used to plan hydrant flushing routes and meter replacements.

MassGIS

MassGIS has dozens of data layers available on their website. Although their maps and data are done at a larger scale, they can be easily integrated with our maps and are very useful for planning issues that extend beyond our town's borders. Their layers are available for download or viewing over the Internet.
